For teeth that are badly broken down beyond repair or teeth needing to be pulled before orthodontics, we employ the most current techniques to remove these teeth swiftly and carefully.. A Root Canal is a dental procedure to remove infected pulp from the inside of the tooth and save it from extraction. Below is some insight and answers to some of our most frequently asked questions.

How Painful is the experience during a Tooth Extraction or a Root Canal?

Given the appropriate dose of anesthetic, the most one would feel during the procedure is more of a pressure/pushing sensation and not pain.

The dentist would not proceed if you do not feel completely numb in the area needing the extraction.

Can I Afford to Have a Tooth Extraction(s)?

The Benefits Outwiegh the Possible Complications

Benefits:
Along with removing out of place teeth, Extraction eliminates both pain and infection. Extraction is also the last resort for a non-salvageable tooth.

Possible Complications: Irritatied nerves may cause temporary or permanent numbness, while fractured tooth particles may remain after treatment.

Tooth parts may become lodged in sinus area requiring more surgery. Extended healing periods may be required for serious infection. Jaw may be stiff and difficult to open for a time after treatment, and fragile or thin jawbone may fracture.

How do you Minimize the Pain of a Tooth Extraction?

Our anesthetic technique can help minimize pain; we use 2% lidocaine with 1:100,000 epinephrine, which provides anesthesia for the duration of the procedure.

Why Shouldn't I just Wait Until I'm in Serious Pain?

The Consequences for not having work done or postponing treatment can inadvertently lead to more painful swelling, and ultimately woresen the spread of infection —in which case there is no viable alternative to Extraction.
